About

Have you ever been in an situation where you were talking to software developer and they start saying random words like ‘JavaScript’ or ‘responsive design’, and you immediately start staring blankly at the person, losing every thought you had?
Or you’re doing some research into ways to develop your digital presence for your small business, and either have no idea what a digital presence is, or once you start reading you get lost and confused about what all these ‘buzz words’ or ‘techy’ terms are; like ‘cloud computing’ or ‘big data’?
Or you work within a business and your need to ring your IT Department again, for the third time, to tell them about the printer not working, and they say something like ‘Oh it’s the network drive’ and other words that are white noise to you, but all your thinking is, ‘What does any of that have to do with the printer not working!’?
Well my friend, Decode, with Rainbows is here to help you.

Decode, with Rainbows is a collection of simple and beautiful resources that help to explain those baffling technology words and definitions, so that amazing business women and students can get back to creating their life’s passion in this crazy technology dependent world.

The story behind it all

The idea for this concept developed when I was studying Information Technology at University. As I got deeper into my studies, I started to observe the people I would talk to and the conversations between different people from different educational backgrounds.
I noticed when talking to them about technology, the general understanding of definitions and terms would vary, which sometimes made the conversations hard to follow and fundamental information would disappear.
For example, when I would be in meetings with the Project Manager and Graphic Designers, we would discuss important information concerning the project. I found that conveying my ideas and thoughts sometimes made the conversations come to a halt, with either the Project Manager or Graphics Designer looking at me with a blank stare.
And then I would proceed to translate the term or technology process into a simple and easy definition, not in a smarty pants way, but in a kind and simple way, to help bridge the understanding, so we could continue our discussion and none of the important information was gone.
So then I had the idea, if my kind and simple translations of ‘techy’ words helped the people I worked with, maybe I could help the wider community. So it began, my journey of developing Decode, with Rainbows.
